So did anyone else watch the elephant documentary last night?
« on: February 17, 2011, 09:50:32 am »
The one where they set up a tonne of cameras and then put an elephant carcass amongst it all (which had been humanely put to sleep by a vet after poachers injured it beyond saving btw)

got to be one of the craziest things ive seen in a very long time!  :chicken:

when that hyena shoved its head up the elephants a$$ and pulled out the anus full of gas... my god i nearly blew chunks all over the sofa!

i was really surprised that no matter how rotten the meat got it didnt matter to those feeding from it, acids in their stomach kill off all of the diseases so its safe to chow down no matter what stage the carcass was at

.
I watched it but am surprised if people find it gross - It's only the circle of life and all very natural. Worrying about the reduction of vulture population though.

I thought the Hyena getting surprised by the elephant farting was hysterically funny - No wonder Hyenas laugh.

Missed it but that second clip was very insightful. I was surprised that most of the elephant hadn't gone by the first day!

It's an important part in the food chain and I wonder whether it's right that humans should be buried when instead we could also contribute to the food chain.

Wish I could see that farting vid on my iPhone.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

.....Well, even buried in the ground humans do contribute to a different food chain, subject of course to how much preservatives are poured into the body and the coffin materials used. I quite like the idea of being left on a platform above ground but Health & Safety bureaucrats wouldn't approve!:

Crikey! Is that the coffin end which can be seen emerging from the structure on the right? Looks like a metal coffin. Who's the dead dude (or dudesse)?
