R32 skirts compared to gti skirts
« on: February 15, 2011, 07:49:14 pm »
Guys, what is the difference between these if any? Also how hard are these to fit as I've heard the standard ones are attached with sticky pads. Cheers

The R32 and ED30 skirts are the same design as the GTi ones but they are smooth and primed ready for painting as opposed to textured. Plus on the GTi skirts at the rear just before they flick up at the rear wheel there is a shallow groove where on the R32 ones there isnt.

But once you have a set of GTi skirts smoothed and painted by a bodyshop you wouldnt really be able to tell the difference :happy2:

They attach to the car by a sticky strip at the top of the sill and a few screws underneath.

R32

GTi

The groove i mentioned

Are the fins (bit that goes up on the rear arch) slightly bigger on the R32's? or they the same?

Just incase anyone needs them, these are the part numbers for the GTI side skirts I picked mine up today along with the rear valance.

LEFT - 1K4 853 859B 9B9      £32.53 +VAT
RIGHT - 1K4 853 859B 9B9    £32.53 +VAT

These side skirt part numbers are for the 4dr versions but I'm pretty certain the 3dr are the same part but the part number is different. I think you change the 4 to a 3.

VALANCE - 1K6 807 521D 9B9    £49.99 +VAT
TOW EYE COVER - 1K6 807 441 9B9   £5.87 +VAT

I got 10% off these prices from my local dealer.

Sorry to hijack but does anyone know the part number for the Ed30 side skirts and rear valance along with prices?  Do they come already painted or just primed?

Cheers

^^^ :signLOL:

They are ridiculous prices! Your better off getting GTI stuff and having it smoothed/sprayed.

Well the side skirts anyway as they are the same, the valance is different from the GTI.
