Didnt go out in robin, car was finished before My good friend the sales manager got in.

Weather is appauling, pooring with rain :sad1:

'4WD' in the wet could have been quite revealing but I agree that test driving a Golf R would be much nicer in the dry. Am sure too that you'll have your opportunity soon enough - Afterall, I'm sure they view you as a very real potential purchaser  :evilgrin:

Well if something is wrong with the coil pack then timing could be off or it might be delivering less voltage to the spark plug than it should, no real way to tell.  It could just be they have disconnected the battery re-setting all the adaptations.  So many possibilities!

....In my experience either a coilpack totally fails and you're stuck without power or you'll have an occasional misfire but usually only under throttle load which signals a coilpack is on the way out. Any misfire should be something which you instantly feel as it happens and each misfire only lasts a fraction of a second. If you have a boost gauge you might catch a very quick blip too.

If you're going for an overtake and leaning on the throttle, a misfire is not an experience you'll fail to remember.

....Certainly all sorts of possibilities but they shouldn't need to disconnect the battery to replace either the coilpacks or the plugs.

I'm going to talk to the VW mech who's on my car tomorrow and also take my Revo switch with me just in case it's a weird VW recommended practice. Neither VWR nor JKM disconnect my battery for coilpacks or plugs.

dropped my car of at 8am today, just had a phone call saying my car wont be ready untill tommorow as they need an aditional part????

also is this recall just the 2.0 tfsi engin or would a 1.6 fsi be affected to???

They've probably done what they did to the other chaps earlier, booked you in without checking they have the new coil packs in stock!

My local dealer will be having a ring tomorrow afternoon to make sure they have the coil packs in stock as wont be leaving my car with them over the weekend.

Same as mine. Cant have them saying "oh we havent got the parts in stock".

Thats just poor preparation - if they have a car in for a coilpack recall check, they should ensure they have adequate stock of new coilpacks to cover all eventualities.

As i said earlier VW Uk have over 500 on the shelf. So dealers should be ordering as your car is booked in.

hmm, just rang up VW Manchester, my Edition30 isnt on the list for the recall..... perhaps not all BYD engines need this?
