VW Warrington have changed all 4 coil packs on my 06 GTI. Took them 1.5 hours while I waited but they did wash and vacuum the car too, all free of charge. Interestingly the Service Manager was unaware of this campaign on VWs but he did know Audi are running a campaign. Presumably it is a VAG wide issue (engine type/coil pack part rather than model specific).

Had to ask them to add a note in the back of the service manual. They also weren't going to give me a receipt until I insisted.

Just for info and as stated before, latest part number is revision F.

Mine is in with Citygate Ruislip today for a MOT and was advised the coil packs will be checked as well.

I assume they will most likely be replaced (if in stock, forgot to ask) as mine is a 56 plate MY07.

Well, lets see what the news is when I go to pick it up.

I asked at my local stealers about the recall and wether mine was affected or not (my07 - 57 plate) and there was nothing coming up on their system.  Shame really, as like others have said, I like receiving free stuff too, needed or not!!

Got the car back, passed MOT no probs. Also had the coil packs replaced :happy2:

Didn't notice any difference on the short drive back but then I guess there wasn't anything wrong with my old packs.

A couple months back both my local dealers (Stirling and Edinburgh) said there wasn't a recall, so ended up buying my set from the US (£80) and fitting them myself (as I had a misfiring problem). Annoying that there isn't consistency across the VAG network. My car is a 05 plate.

I got this beauty when my car got a service and "product enhancement"...

Went from an R32 to a 1.2

Even came with added bird crap, cracked wing mirror and scrapped front left wheel arch...

No wonder I got the work done so cheap

Got my coil packs replaced this morning as part of a 2 hour "while-you-wait" service. hopefully this will fix the warm starting issues my car has been displaying over the past few months. My car is a 2006 model on a 55 plate. Whilst it's nice to get a shiny new set of coil packs, they did try to charge me £35 to fit a new oil filler cap...! I kindly offered to fit it myself, I didn't even need a workshop manual!
