Call them back and if you get the same person tell them you have a letter and tell them the reference for the campaign   Useless buggers

Good thinking that, cheers.
I have not used a VW garage for a good 8 years due to this kind of pi$$ poor service, (parts shop on the other hand are great as long as I speak to one of the regular staff)
Seems all the garage care about is the sale, and overpriced services, once that is done they don't give a damn.
Will call them again tomorrow and see where I get then.

Failing that, where is the closest VW garage to Wolverhampton apart from the one near to A1 wheels?!

How did you get on with this al?

Just checked the wad of paperwork that the Audi came with. Coilpacks were done under warrenty in March.

Does anyone know if the 1.8T 163bhp Engine is covered by it? That said ive now replaced all four of them due to failure.

Don't know specifically what engine/year you have, but the Audi 1.8T 225 engine (2002) is covered, all 4 of mine were changed, and I got a refund for the one I'd already paid for when it failed.

I've got a 54 plate mk5 GTI and went to the local VW dealer recently just to have 2 new tyres fitted. Whilst there they changed the coils too.

My car is booked in VW on Monday to have the coilpacks done. The thing is they are insisting theres a software update recall to do as well and wont just change coilpacks.

They have said this will wipe my map and my revo dealer wants to charge me £35 1/2 hour to put it back on.

Have people with maps had the same situation recently! and is this my only option?

Cheers Jim

Ring another dealer if i was you. I asked about software update and they said no just the coilpacks.

Its upto 2008 models. Anything from 1.6 upwards i think (but dont quote me on that).

I had mine done on 2006 (56) golf gti. Bit crafty how they dont tell you its only if you enquire. They still call it a recall though.

I think someone else on here told a dealer not to do the software update and they had to sign a disclaimer saying they didn't want it to be done

If your coil packs haven't been replaced by VW already then give them a call and ask if your car has any outstanding recalls etc... Most likely It will, they should book u in and get whatever needs replaced sorted. This is what I done and had 4 coil packs replaced along with an ecu update
