 :pomppomp: :pomppomp: :pomppomp: :star:

I just called my VW dealer (Loders, Dorchester)... Their Technical Manager immediately knew about the recall and said all I had to do was book it in and VW would pay for any coilpack replacements needed regarding their part numbers/age etc. All free of charge and no need to be booked in for other work.

At least two of my coilpacks are original to the car (06-build), one is a 2009 version and the other a 2010 version.

....Well, my dealer of course knows my car well and so didn't mention or ask my car's age or version. I know from VW Assistance/RAC that the coilpacks on the Mk5 GTI are different than on other Mk5 Golfs and I'm pretty sure that the Ed30 runs the same coilpacks as the GTI.

I think that VW are recalling (and it is an official Recall) those cars built with earlier revision coilpacks. My dealer will check the part numbers on mine to decide replacement.

Mine is 2008/ 57.

I wonder if I'll be eligible to have my 'packs checked'?

Just phoned VW...

Apparently my chassis number is not part of the range that's affected.

No product enhancement/ recall showing up for my vehicle...

So it looks like it could just be the slightly earlier GTI's ??

I think its 05 to 07 as they revised the coil packs after that period.

OK so just rang VW Stockport

Recall on Friday for Coil pack "Check"

Only some cars are affected, but it is for the coil packs to be checked ! and replaced if necessary ! (whatever that means)

She would not give me the code and assured me it was not a product recall, just a check of the coil packs that are in there !

Another testament as to why forums are so good !  :congrats: :congrats:

Couldn't agree more.  Ive just phone VW Newcastle, mines in on Monday they knew less than what I did based on infor from this forum - top work  :congrats:
