Do they run a dianostic once these have been done? Would I be able to ask them to check the boost level at the same time - is this a quick check they'll do?

I imagine they will to ensure there are no fault codes. As for asking them, i guess it depends who you speak to and how nicely you ask

Just phoned VW...

Apparently my chassis number is not part of the range that's affected.

No product enhancement/ recall showing up for my vehicle...

So it looks like it could just be the slightly earlier GTI's ??

I'll find out tomorrow whether my early build 114 qualifys, when I go in to collect some parts.

Cars going on fire I'd imagine.  Certainly wouldn't be the inconvienience or cost to owners that would bother them.

Just phoned the dealer, the "helpful"   lady on service could't or wouldn't check. Said they would check the car tomorrow when its in for a service.
I just wanted to find out and get the ball rolling save on two trips to the dealers .

Bye Bye Edition 30.

Its a wouldnt check. They all can check, it just takes time to get chassis number from reg, and then their really slow campaign system to check the VIN out lol

Hi Gang

Mine is going in on Thursday for an oil change service, £112, shocking, but they will check over brakes etc at the same time.

I asked about the coil packs and yes they will be done so I am well pleased.  :jumpmove: I have a misfire at about 80mph if you accelerate hard.

Also, I find that the car seems to accelerate more if you lift off from full throttle in any gear. Another little problem is that the engine hunts a bit when pulling away first thing in the morning. Those two things could be something else, possibly the dump valve, but coil packs for free is a good start! I'm not sure whether to get them to fit new plugs while they are in there, £90 if they do, but I could do them myself. Apparently they are due at 60,000 miles, mine is on 53,000 so it would make sense to do it now.

Here's hoping for a better drive. :driver:
