I called 2 dealers in Kent, one said I had no need to get them changed (06 reg) the other said yes and booked my car in to change all the coil packs but did not have them in stock and would call once they were in but  at least they are going to change them, so a BIG THANK YOU for bringing this subject to the forum.

Itll include BYD aswell being the ED30

hmm, just rang up VW Manchester, my Edition30 isnt on the list for the recall..... perhaps not all BYD engines need this?

How old is your car Richtung?

As I have already posted I got told by one dealer that my car was involved in the recall and that it wasn't by another... :stupid:

The dealer I take my car to won't book the car in until they have the parts in stock. After talking to the parts guys, he mentioned that a range of coil packs were affected and they were ordering a range in. VW had most in stock with others in transit or arriving soon..
Bye Bye Edition 30.

Just got back from dealers. Anyone else feel since the coilpack replacement, Mine seems to of improoved its throttle responce, or abit more eager?

Might be just me, or its cured an up and coming fault?

I felt the same when I had mine done the other week.

Looks like there's something a miss with these old coil packs?

That's 3 of us now said the same.

.
I've just had a chat with my VW dealer's Parts Manager (who's a VeeDub enthusiast and goes to Inters etc) and he tells me that as soon as my car was booked in he ordered a set of 4 coilpacks in readiness for me tomorrow. He says that the main stock in MK(?) runs low very quickly when there is such a recall.

I feel soooo lucky to have the VW dealer I have  :notworthy:

Wakefield dealership really are poor. Had my car 8hrs and told me to come back at 4pm. Well I have and it ain't even in the workshop yet. How sh*ts that considering how easy the job is! Plus they ain't got no stock as per usual.

On the plus side though I argued about recently replacing one the coils due to being faulty. They told me to bring it in and they will replace it with a new one too.

Had my car in at Lookers Teessied today the retrofit cruise control fitted, and just before I was about to ask about the recall they told they'd already checked and my car was included in the recall. Unfortunately due to sudden demand for these parts its not getting done until next Friday. (Mine's an 06 plate btw)

It might not be anything to do with the coilpacks but my car definatly feels more eager since it's had the recall done. New software maybe?

If someone can post a pic on here as to where to access the coilpacks we could all check our coilpacks part number to see if they are the ones that are the ones to be replaced , we can then tell VW that we need them replacing . Some VW Dealers don't know their *rse from their elbow .....I am away from the car for a few days so can't.........Having never looked into this type of engine ED30 is there a coilpack per cylinder?

Some years ago my VR6 was in for 5 days and the problem was the coilpack only! They apparently had a dutch V6 specialist working there at the time!
