They do try and wriggle out of anything. I'm still waiting to hear back about rust on my door sill, not expecting it to be done foc though!

....Worth asking even if the answer is no. The big thing on your side is not being modified and, of course, if within warranty period.  :happy2:

I had no 'hole' just a very slight bubbling of the paint and both arches were done under warranty with no drama.  Full dealer service history is a must I was told.  My car is well out of warranty on a '05' plate.  You don't ask you don't get.

Hi all! New here

Went to view a GTI yesterday.. Absolutely LOVE it. Unfortunately, when he came to meet me the misfire started! I had told him about the problem (thanks guys) and it is currently in the VW garage getting new coils on Monday and will be picking it up next week!!

Rung my local VW dealer up today (Stoke) and asked them to check if my car was included in the recall, the friendly lady asked for my Reg and sure enough it was, going in on Wednesday to have her checked out. Conna grumble if it's free!  :happy2:

Four new coils in mine today and free from a stealer - cannot grumble!!

I also think the motor seems smoother but might be in my head.  VW Newcastle were spot on.

Cheers again to th OP  :notworthy:

....With all four renewed you're much more likely to feel a difference. But as I've already warned you, look out for Miss Coilette Placebo.

Turns out that the problem was the coils and is getting repaired under warranty from the stealers... the guy wont get it back until Wednesday because they dont have any in stock so I will be picking it up about an hour from my house on Thursday and get a good drive back with it

I can not wait!!!!

looked at this string of posts and decided to call my local dealers (Kettering VW Northants) concerning the coil packs. Spoke to reception and stated that I have a 56 plate GTI and that I had seen that there was a recall on these items. After leaving me on hold for ages the receptionist came back and confirmed that there is a recall on the coil packs and promtley booked me in for an inspection next week. I'm not sure if they are going to replace them or not, but feel better that they are least going to look into it. Funny that without this forum I wouldn't have known about any so called "recall"...is this just a VW thing....?
