The reason he went in the boot was to put the recall sticker under the carpet  :happy2:

I take back my suggestion of incompetence - indeed there is a sticker under the boot liner.  :happy2:

Had my car into South Hereford VW for CAM belt + waterpump & service and all four coil packs were replaced. My car actually feels like it revs alot better to be honest but that maybe just down to the service.

Booked my 06 in for tomoro as it seems to be running on 3 cylinders at the minute.  Sounds rough and the smell of unburnt fuel is bad.  When running on three it shudders like mad.

I ask VW today is it ok to drive over to them the 7 miles and they said its fine.  Im not so sure tho as its bad to drive.  As soon as it happened I parked it up home about 1 mile from the coilpack died.  Started it tonite and the engine sound is loud knocking.  Not healthy.  Hopefully it will be all sorted in the morning tho.

^^ just use as little throttle as possible to minimise the amount of unburnt fuel hitting the cat

got my 06 in 2day at my local dealers and can honestly say i have noticed a difference in the way she drives. so much smoother through the gears and more responsive so very happy with the f.o.c coilpack, which is more than i can say for the care of my car. upon inspection of my car after the coil packs were installed i found a huge black scratch / mark on the passenger door. i went f***ing mad at the guy behind the desk who quickly ran outside to try ans resolve the situation.

thankfully they got the mark out with abit of polishing but not at all happy with the service. now i know why my mates get cold sweats just driving buy that place

Having had the coil packs changed on my GTI on the 3rd March, I today took my wife's 2001 Passat 1.8T in for service/MOT at my local dealers.  When I picked it up I was advised that they had changed all 4 coil packs FOC on that too.  Looks like this is a far wider workshop campaign than originally thought!

Got mine back from TL Darby today, great service, replaced the coilpacks and gave me the free health check.

Only two issues, slightly split cv joint, and a buckled front left wheel  :sad1: ...

But apart from that the cars in great condition they said .. just means i can look at getting to stage 2 now

I had coilpacks changed at VW a few weeks ago, but still had a misfire - sometimes quite bad.

VW wanted £90 including labour to put new plugs in at the same time, which I thought was a bit of a cheek as everything was removed to change the coilpacks.  I think the goodwill fairy was off sick that day.

I bought some NGK's BKR7EIX Iridium plugs off EBay (£25.90 delivered!) and fitted them this morning. I took the long, long way to work then without any sign of a misfire.

The last two problems I have to solve are the strange increase in power when I lift off a bit from full throttle, and hunting in first when the engine is cold, although I suspect these are fueling issues rather than ignition. Any opinions or ideas gratefully accepted.

This sounds familiar to what i have been experiencing recently, after coilpack change,..

Hunting?
