RNS-510 and voice control wiring advise ?
« on: February 20, 2011, 12:42:14 pm »
Chaps, soooooo sorry for yet another RNS question. As some of you may know, in a month or so, I will say goodbye to the Golf and hello to my new Scirocco.

I've specced the Rocco with the standard RCD-510 and the plan is to swap it with the RNS-510 that I'll take out of the Golf before selling it. Now I've specced the Rocco with the factory Bluetooth kit (the new HFP), so I'll obviously have a microphone installed overhead.

My question is, as the RCD 510 doesnt support voice control, I guess the mic will only be connected to the Bluetooth module and not the head unit, meaning when I swap the RNS in, I think the voice control won't work as there would be no "bridge" to the RNS from the mic?

If this is the case, is this a fairly easy mod, I.e. Can I get away with only one mic or will i have to install another one just for voice control. Is it a wiring mod?

Thanks in advance.
