Spark Plugs
« on: February 21, 2011, 11:27:52 am »
Hi all

Car going in for a major service next week and am getting them to fit a K&N filter, its also due a spark plug change, should I just go for the stock VW items or take the opportunity to upgrade?

If yes, what are suitable plugs / HR leads to use?

Cheers

Russ

Even if you are Stage1 or 2 tuned I've been advised by JKM and VWR to stick to the oem plugs. It's a good idea on a tuned 2.0T FSI to change plugs every 20k miles instead of only when the handbook says - Good maintenance practice.

I was just wondering if you had got your hands dirty that was all.

....Removing my engine cover and topping up fluids is as far as I go. Otherwise it's VWR, JKM, or my VW dealer.  :happy2:

Oh, and repairing my fibreglass splitter a couple of times a year. I don't mind getting my hands dirty, it's just that I'm not prepared to buy a whole load of tools to do something I'm not skilled or knowledgable about.

....Swapping plugs is included in my servicing and coincides with my 10k mile servicing increments.  :P

....No, every 20k. That's why I used the word "increments". In other words, I have plugs swapped every alternate servicing.
