235's

TT had them on Monza's. The Rocco wheels are 8x18 and they take 235's.

i have them on the rear, the front scrubbed a lot even slightly lowered

Seems that adding another 10mm of tread is more trouble than it's worth.

I wonder how hard and noisy toyo 888's might be for everey day ? I drove an E30 M3 years ago on Dunlop Formula R's awesome grip but very, very hard compared to road tyres.

R888s are very noisy.  But there is now a tyre situated between the R888 and normal road tyres called the toyo R1R.  Its got a little more tread, and a better wear rate and most of the grip

I have been running my track tyres all winter and at 20 mile an hour it sounds like a lolly stick, stuck in my spokes with a fine vibration at all other speeds. Have to say i actually love it. It certainly is not annoying. Just depends what you expect from your car, it is a family hatch at the end of the day.

You may experiance the car wanting to tramline a bit more with the wider tyres although the larger "foot print" as a result of the bigger tyres will more then make up for it

I can only say thumbs up  for the Toyo R1R as i ran it all last summer, and there's still some left for use as track tyres this year.

I had 235 on my rocco alloys, but they did rub like hell at fast cornering, and also when going over most bumps, Though I think it can vary depending on the offset of the wheels.
If others above are running them with no problems though Iwould trust them as they know a lot more than me.

Same as al I've put on original roccos 18" 235mm and they rub big time ... Had to higher my front coilies as making a mess of my wing... love the style of wheels and thinking of getting 225 on the fronts to hopefully help .. The rears scrub abit but cause it sits well I'll suck and see ... Me thinks the offset of 41 doesn't help

I did not have 235s yet, but I'm going to have 235/40 semi slicks on my 8x18 BBS VZ.
Unfortunately they have 44 offset. For 235s on a Golf ET50 would be much easier.

Spoke to a garage near to me when I had the rocco's on, and they said even wiith 225's it would still rub a fair bit. Not sure if they were right though,

With 335 F and 320R ride heights (I may go up a little at the back) I have no problems at all with 225's on ET45 8x18's
