I have a 2.0 gt tdi 140 remapped to about 180. It has 89k miles and is from 2004.
I experienced limp mode twice in the last month, usually up a hill.
Here is vagcom results from 1.5k to 4k in 3rd gear
The only error that comes up in vagcom is egr insufficient flow even though i cleaned the egr and changed the intake flap.
Here is the results

Not too sure but I'll start the bidding on a sticking wastegate.

That can be associated with sticking VNT vanes, often on standard cars.

My thoughts would be that it's possible the map is requesting too much boost.  Who did the map??

I've not heard of them but you could contact them and ask them to adjust the boost levels a little.

There was a spate of this with a while back which was linked to a similar situation with a 'meet you in the layby' or 'we'll come to you' type remapping company who I'll not name here.

Thanks guys.
I guess at 90k miles it needs to be cleaned anyway. The remap was on a month before limp mode came..
Anyway ill get it refurbed(how long can it go on for if i do that) and reply back,  or shall i just buy a refurbed one?
thanks

This is usually to do with the map requesting too much boost, had this on a previous car and the car was constantly in limp mode until i got it remapped (it came with a dreadful map on the car).

I'd consider talking to a local tuner and get it on the rollers to diagnose the problem, any good tuner will be able to tell you if its the map or not. should cost no more than £70 and will save you from pissing your money away on possible cures that dont fix it.

Well id prefer if it was the map and not the turbo
Slight whistling when boosting but thats always been there
I was thinking of that but just dont want to go on the rollers just in case its the turbo and it pops.
So its probably the map or turbo

Thanks guys, refurb mine or buy a refurbed one?
The map seems to be requesting less boost at peak and the actual boost goes over
