19" or 18" alloys?

I am going for the rs6 5 spoke alloys on my golf but im undecided on weather to go 18 or 19"
Im fully aware that if i go for 19" i will sacrifice basically everything: mpg, comfort, handling, cost of tyres etc.
are 19s worth the hassle? that is the question, im on adjustable coilovers and its only a wee 1.4 so will struggle.

reason for asking i was going for 18s but ive been offered a cheap set of 19s so thats really swayed my decision.

Most important question not yet asked:

How do you feel your tyrebudget is??

If you plan on budgettyres going 19" then go for 18" and buy proper tyres for the same as the 19" budgettyres would cost.
IMO that should be the deciding question for you.

I believe more will chime in with same opinion.  :happy2:  :drinking:

19's look great but as above comfort/tyre cost etc. Love the look of the standard alloys on my ED 30 & i don't think they look small.

I would be buying part worns off ebay weather i go 18 or 19 and there doesnt seem to be that much price difference, by the looks of it i would be paying an extra £80 for the 19s which i wouldnt mind paying, i dont do any track days as the car couldnt pull the skin off a rice pudding anyway so theres no need in spending the extra on good tires.

Well i assume you use the car for daily driving and not just as a showcar??  :scared:

A good set of tyres can be the difference between a new front on the car, or you driving away unharmed.
 Chose 18" and buy some good new tyres instead of used from Fleebay.  :drinking:

yeah just daily driving mate but hopefully daily driving in style lol, i know what you mean about the tyres but i still feel the urge to get the 19s hmmm. im still waiting to hear back from the guy what the offset is so there is a chance they wont fit anyway.

19's all day long  :innocent:

if youre not tracking the car then they fill the arches perfek  :smiley:

tyres do cost though, but depends on your driving style and distance monthly etc etc

i run pilot sport IIs and its not cheap

the extra tyre cost doesnt bother me all im worried about is loosing too much handling and how bad the ride is going to be, but just look at this!

my handling and ride didnt suffer one bit going onto 19's - always been a no brainer for me, i collected my car from new inside the showroom - but not before i dropped of the new 19's to the dealership for them to fit before collection  :evilgrin:

haha nice work, you have 4wd and a bit of power though  :driver: my 1.4 isnt going to move and the milk bottle top brakes are going to be embarrasing.

yours are also more stable as it has a ton of deadweight on the front wheels due to the old vr6 engine fitted  :P
