taken at bedford autodrome

didn't do much to the car tho...just had a cat back exhaust with 5" exit to make some noise (it was the norm!), HKS SSQV atmospheric dump valve to scare the OAPS, set of mud flaps, and set of DEFI gauges!

sold it after 15 months at a huge loss.

then got a motorbike instead!

Lovely Subaru

I drove one just like that about six months ago and was just completely blown away with the speed / handling / grip!

its very different to the GTI that's for sure.

The scooby didn't do anything until u hit 4krpm, and then it just takes off! very annoying but it meant u just had to keep the revs up there (turbo a bit laggy basically)

grip was definitely good, and had some fun when it snowed that year i owned it. 4 wheel drifting round corners lol.

fuel economy was pants tho.

the new hatchback variety is just damn ugly. wondere how much they gave FAF to have one featured???

you tempted to buy one then Chris??

After I had the test drive, i drove home and got an insurance quote on the actual car, and it came to £2700! So that kind of ruled it out really!

Yeah you're so right about the turbo lag. There was a situation on the test where i had to overtake a cyclist...I was doing about 15mph in second gear waiting for oncoming traffic to clear. Saw a small gap and went for it...................no response................no response.................no response.................oncoming traffic becoming dangerously close...................turbo kicks in just at the right moment! I was so used to the pickup of the GTI's small turbo that I totally underestimated the Subaru in that respect!

But as you say, if you keep the revs up, it is wonderful!

might put some in the Mk6 lol.

You're not getting a Mk6 are you?!  :fighting:

New Scooby is meant to be a lot more drivable (I've heard), but it is ugly as soon in anything other than the electric blue or white. I don't actually mind it in those colours.
