What to Pay for a 2005 GTI
« on: February 27, 2011, 07:01:46 pm »
Evening all,

I am looking at a 2005 (05 reg) 5 door gti, 50,000 miles, full leather, winter pack, sat nav etc, colour is grey.

Price is £9,950 at an indepedant dealers.

Does this sound reasonable? Also anything I need to look for with this age GTI?

Cheers

Simon

I paid that much for mine almost 2 years ago, albeit with cloth seats and no satnav.
Mine had 50000 miles, and winter pack too.
I would expect about £8300 to be reasonable but that's just my opinion.

Manual, I assume a manual should give better MPG than DSG?

I've just got a 55 plate, 40 K on the clock, for £8500, the thing is like spotless!

Thought it was a good deal for the car condition etc!

Nope the other way round matey.

:ashamed: doh! Is there much difference between them? Only concern is if there is any problem with the DSG, repairs etc as a pal has had 2 fail on A3's.

I couldnt believe it when I went to see it! The car just had the misfire problem. The guy took it to the stealers on saturday and they are looking at it today. I think the guy was a bit embaressed about it so accepted by £8500 for it  :pomppomp:

Picking it up this week!

Right, that car has been sold!

Now looking at a 2006 56 5 door manual via a VW dealer.

62,000 miles with satnav.

They are willing to go to £10,500 with normal year VW warranty etc etc.

Thoughts?

I pick my 2005 GTI up on Weds, was 11.000 but paid 10,500 . It was spec I wanted. Candy white. 3 door. 18 monzas. winter pack, lux pack.Leather.DSG. media player. xenons, warranty
Had them refurb wheels today, regas air con , replace light seals and service DSG box . It has just been serviced recently and cam belt changed.
cant believe all the gizmos on these cars, elec seats, tyre pressure monitors, parking sensors etc

cant wait to get it.

just get the spec you want, i looked at that VW site until one I wanted came up. It had to be 3 door, DSG and leather , all the rest I got was a bonus .

good luck
