RNS510 add on's
« on: March 24, 2011, 12:06:38 am »
Right,I have recentlybeen playing with my RNS and been looking for add on's.....but something has baffled me......the LOOMS.

Right, I put the following in (MDI) the loom below has the adaptor added on as shown, which is fine.

This is a video in motion lead....again with adaptor on loom

and sooooo on.

My question is, what do you do if you add more than one add on? is there a plug (wiring loom) that has several connectors coming of it for multi attachments?

I wouldn't use a VIM lead,I have read post of them bricking the head unit.
You can get the VIM lock speed set to 0 mph which then leaves the video running when you drive.
It's all software related on the unit.

Of course you shouldn't be watching tv while driving

It's for the rear screens chap (VIM)

but mainly it was more used as an example.......i.e what do you do IF you add multi attachments?

If I fit an mdi and then want to fit rear camera and rear screens....? is there one special loom for the WHOLE lot?

It's all about the installation. You've picked items that are sold with plug and play leads for simplicity but you'd need to do a little bit of work to bring all of that together for a neater installation.

The genuine VW MDI retrofit has a better loom.

ahh right, sorry mate i thought you meant the lead that removed the VIM lock off the front screen.
I know there's a lead you can buy that allows the video to continue while you drive, but has been
known to brick some units.

Not if you spend the d0sh and get good quality items and not from the bAY...

I`ve had mine running for nearly a  year now with NO problems at all... even allows me to switch it back to STOCK if need be my use of the MFSW buttons... :P
