Just think everytime your filling it up it could be worse it could be a r32

 .................. oh wait .......  :chicken: ........... Doh!

yeah but the soundtrack!!!

i hit the m25 last weds and couldnt resist winding down the windows and giving it some beans.cant imagine what vc's sounds like in same tunnel woop!!!!
and i have decided to keep the midline off of the fuel function so i dont notice how much less mpg i get when my foot feels the urge to get heavy :booty:

....Who are you calling "stupid"? If you found your R32 expensive on fuel, try LPG. It's also heavier than petrol in weight. It's been around since the 1940s apparently but for some reason hasn't taken off as a motor fuel. It's more enviro friendly though.

But £2K on an LPG conversion will take some time pay for itself never mind save money. And dont forget that if a lot of people start using LPG, the cost of it will sky rocket just like petrol has.

....Plus there's the infrastructure needed at fuelling stations. Being based on fossil fuels it ain't gonna happen for as long as there is the belief that they are the bad guys.

^^ True.

They will bleed us no matter what. If electric cars take off, they will just find another way of taxing the amount you use it.

Yeh I nearly bought an R32! My mate has just moved to Dubai to work and he has bough a big engine sports car, costs him next to nothing to fill up the lucky git! There is a site I have found petrol prices.com it shows cheapest filling stations near you, its free site. Can save you at least a fiver every time you fill up, might be helpful to many of us.

Sounds to me like a typical case of you driving the car to much as you're enjoying it..  As there's no way the Vectra will do 3 X the MPG of the Golf.. In fact if driven well, I bet there's not that much between them on a run..

I was under the impression the GTI Injector spray pattern was wrong for LPG or it could be something to do with direct injection, anyway not sure its so easy on the Tfsi.

I tend to drive quite slowly on the way to and from work, not above 70mph on motorway and stick to the limits as not in a rush(get up earlier) and I get 38mpg!

Mrs H4rdys Touran Tdi sport gets 52mpg with this style of driving so thats get used if she doesn't need it.

Take it easy and lay off the boot or..................don't complain about the cost :signLOL:

....Be aware, very aware, that although the 2.0T FSI engine will run on 95 RON petrol it is NOT recommended by Volkswagen. There should be a label inside your fuel cap saying so. Always run on higher octane fuel such as Shell V-Power except in emergency.

My old BMW 320D 2003 used to average 36 mpg. On the same journeys and usage the GTI does 29-30. So not exactly a massive difference and A LOT MORE FUN...... :driver:

Interesting points, to be honest at this stage it is only the second week of owning the car so I cant bring myself to drive at 60MPH or motorways   However this shall be done in the future. And yes I have been driving more than usual and fast so this may explain the two petrol tanks I went through in a week..

RedRobin and others- The site I mentioned tells prices of Super-Unleaded as well and it highlights many of the supermarkets are cheaper which leads me onto my next point- is the super unleaded at the supermarkets okay to use and is it same as say V power? Thanks

So you want to ban and burn him for suggesting a GTI LPG conversion?

Makes perfect sense if you can stump up for the initial outlay. Cake and eat it.
