Papers were saying today that sales of locking fuel caps and number plates fixings have gone through the roof as people syphon fuel or nick number plates to drive off from petrol stations !

The government tried to ban the story as it incited fear !

your theory may be coming quicker than you think Carl.

As has been said the implications on the wider economy are very concerning.  We all need to go out on the streets and protest like the French do and refuse to go to work until the Government do something about it.   :fighting:

But as usual i think we'll all bend over and take it.

the gov need a HUGE rethink imho, petrol will cripple the country if they dont address it soon

petrol aside the next big issue is road tax, should be done by mile not by car, i pay £420 a year and do a fraction of the miles most people do

but no matter how we stamp our feet or how loudly, nothing will be done, we need our cars and we need fuel, the only way to realistically change it is to stop using the cars to get the message across

and in reality no one can do that

Yeah but your tax is because of that bloody heavy fridge you drive!

On another note, the situation is going rather nuts, I remember when it was 80p/litre only a few years ago and now it's close to double  :scared: GTI as a weekend vehicle is making more sense...

Lads round my way have been puncturing peoples fuel tanks with screwdrivers for over a year now and selling on the petrol. Generally lowerd/performance vehicle are safe though from this as they are too low to the ground for a jerry can or something to catch the fuel to be put underneath them

When I first started driving 4 years ago it was around 80p a liter! Oh how things have changed!

The fuel delivery drivers should go on strike again.

Im lucky though, i only work 2 miles from where i live so i think i could keep my R for a little longer. I put £10 in thismorning at BP () and its was 1.48.9  :angry015:

There has been talk of them lowering the speed limits on motorways etc. However it has been refuted this morning so it's probably going to happen. A bit like when a football manager says player X isn't for sale and 2 days later he's signed elsewhere

I don't think fuel drivers striking will help as the government will just order the Army to do it. Also if everyone starts fuel protests it hurts the economy more as people don't get into work or get in late. Look at the chaos caused recently by the snow. The economy was loosing an estimated £150m a day.

Most people will just cut back on other things as they need to get to work. There is a solution out there but blocking roads and fuel stations imho isn't the answer.

the government have a solution to the economy... its called tax  :fighting:

like historical taxes....

like poll tax (a tax to keep your head)....

or income tax to pay for a war on france in 1790.... which were still taxed for!
