What a nightmare. Had to completely wipe my HD to repair a broken disk and install all my packages again. Only after having to download Lion again and reinstall Snow Leopard. What a palaver. then I realised I lost all my emails because I hadn't bloody exported them from Outlook so they are just a bunch of useless unlinked text files. Now my time machine is fooked. And to make it worse my MBP seems to be a bit laggy now and keeps freezing up much more than it ever has before. Time for a new Mac I think. SSD all the way.  :fighting:  :fighting2:

Sorry, but I did tell you guys that installing a brand new .0 version OS wasn't a wise move. And I also linked to the Apple Discussions forum where all sorts of Lion issues are being discussed.

You might benefit from checking these subjects out:  https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion

But the next updates won't make old software work, they just cut compatibility.

There are a few things that are annoying me, but they won't be resolved by updates.

....I'm afraid that it happens everytime there is a relatively major upgrade. Compromises get made in the interests of 'progress'.

If the incompatibilities are important enough to your use of a system then perhaps be prepared to switch back to Snow Leopard. Apple TechSupport will help you do this if you need.

Relieved cs4 still works,

....Adobe always work quite closely with Apple, for obvious reasons. The only Adobe CS apps which won't work are on PPC Macs - They'll all work on Intel Macs.

Not strictly true, in fact Apple's relationship with Adobe isn't generally that great. In the studio we can't print from any machine running InDesign CS3 or CS4. The initial reaction is that this isn't an issue that will be resolved by Adobe.

Thats interesting Andrew, what sort of machine are you printing to? Office printer or something bigger?

It's to our big Olivetti laser printer, however the Adobe forums are awash with people experiencing the same, so it would appear the type of printer is irrelevant. As I say, it's only InDesign, and you can work around it by exporting PDFs and printing those via Acrobat/Preview.

....That's always been an effective workaround since CS1 and a pretty well established method. PDF is probably a better route and format anyway.

Some of you may find these tips useful:  http://www.macworld.com/article/161357/2011/07/how_to_make_lion_more_like_snow_leopard.html

I, for one, will definitely be switching off the Inertia behaviour when Trackpad scrolling.
