Took about 8 minutes to install on my 240GB SSD

Onyx doesnt work with Lion though - does the latest version of it work?

a good guide on install Lion can be found here - worth a read - http://gigaom.com/apple/mac-os-x-10-7-lion-install-checklist/

....And also the compatibility list from your link, Dom:  http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

It's never a good idea to rush into a first release of new software (unless you're a pre-release tester like Carl). Wait for the first patch or two of fixes. But the temptation of new toys is very difficult to resist!

The Apple Discussions forums are a good way of checking what user problems are. In my case, are there any issues running Logic Studio or Adobe CS5 for example - Theoretically there shouldn't be, BUT......

Apple Discussions:  https://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa

And specifically 10.7 Lion: https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion

To be honest there has been a lot of QA on Lion, and, like Carl, having been involved in the beta I would say this is a fairly safe upgrade in its current guise. The only element I have been bitten on is losing my decent epson scanner software [Epson] to work with my scanner (Perfection 3170) but there is support through ICA. Bottom line is that any PowerPC applications will not be supported.

My macmini is a core duo so I can't update it to lion at all.  :sad1:

My mrs is however in USA right now and heading to the applestore when she awakes to get us a nice new MacBook air  :jumpmove:

I've may be rather foolishly have opted for the 13" with i7 and 256gb ssd and 4g ram. Works out about a £1000 ish. Though as Robin advises like software it's often best not to dive in on day 1, I'm sure if there are any issues apples excellent support and customer service will deal.

My wife will of course be using the device there for work and unable to bring the box back though..... :innocent:

I have

Unibody 15" MBP
2.8ghz Core 2 Duo
8GB 1066mhz DDR3
500gb 7200rpm drive (soon to be an SSD)

To be honest you wont go far wrong with upgrading. The problem with app compatibility lies with the App Developer not Apple. They have had a year to get the Apps to work properly with them. The only App I had a prob with was ESET Cyber Security there is a Lion specific update for it but it's still causing problems so I have removed it for now.

But otherwise it's a very good upgrade and it's not like windows where you should wait for 10.7.1 :happy2:

Cheers, Carl and Dom  :happy2:

I think I'll wait just a week or two before upgrading to Lion. Can it be done via the App Store do you know? - I've got credit there.

You're right, AppleCare support is second to none and it's always been that way  :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Everything pretty much worked for me - from what I checked anyway. It was just Onyx. Oh and Pixelmator needed an update, and it worked fine after that.

....Cheers but I'm now on Logic Studio 9.1.4 and keeping an eye on these discussions:  https://discussions.apple.com/community/professional_applications/logic_studio

Adobe are likely to have any issues already covered but again it's reason for me to take my time before leaping into the lion's cage.

....I haven't personally used MainStage 2 but 'we' (my mate and co-producer Steve) have got v.9 at the recording studio and he has gigged with it via a MBP. He says it's very enabling. The main reason I upgraded from L8 to 9 at home is so we are compatible as I sometimes do further editing at home. He is coming to my 'home studio' this evening for a session (and to drool over my new 27" iMac).

I'm glad to say that the upgrade isn't hugely expensive (unless you're scraping the barrel!). I got mine from Absolute Music. Did you get your Saffire6 from them?
