App store it the only place you can get it from Robin... its exclusively download only.

Not strictly true. Apple are making it available on a USB stick for $69.

Downloaded yesterday but didn't have time to  install so it could be on the agenda for this evening if I get home in time.

I have an Epson Scanner/Printer/Fax all in one and remember issues when SL first arrived.  Hopefully if I do have an issue this time it'll be sorted as quickly, problem is my device isn't getting any newer.

Fancy a group buy on SSD's Carl??

Finally downloaded and i must say I'm really impressed.  Mine was running a bit slow before but is absolutely flying now.  Scrolling up and down pages being reversed has thrown me a little though

Ok lets do this properly.

If anyone is interested in a SSD Drive for their MBP or Laptop please register interest below.

Just so you know i will be looking at the OCZ Vertex 3 as this seems to be the best one for a MBP. It will also work perfectly well in a windows laptop and any difference between other manufacturers is minimal and down to personal preference. I will ask any supplier who is willing to do a group buy discount if they will do so on different models however i would expect it only to be on different capacities.

For reference the Stats of a Vertex 3 are:

Available in 60GB, 120GB, 240GB, 480GB Capacities
MLC NAND Flash
Interface: SATA 6Gbps / Backwards Compatible 3Gbps
Native TRIM support - Driven by the second generation of SandForce SSD controller (SF-2281). This means the SSD will TRIM on the fly if the OS doesn't support it
Seek Time: .1ms
Slim 2.5" Design
99.8 x 69.63 x 9.3mm
Lightweight: 77g
Operating Temp: 0°C ~ 70°C
Ambient Temp: 0°C ~ 55°C
Storage Temp: -45°C ~ 85°C
Low Power Consumption: 3W Active, 1.65W Idle
Shock Resistant up to 1500G
RAID Support
Included 3.5" Desktop adapter bracket
Compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP 32-bit/64-bit, Mac OSX
MTBF: 2 million hours
3-Year Warranty

List of interest (no commitment just an idea of numbers)

1. vRS Carl - 120GB
2. vRStu
3. Hedge

Be aware this isn't going to happen overnight. I am moving house next week but will aim to speak to a few suppliers during that time. Once i have got the details i will then start a GB Thread for them.

I just sold a couple of 160GB SSD's a couple of weeks back as well - didn't think of listing them up here  :stupid:

I will contact one of my suppliers and see if he is interested in a discount on a number of items.......

Luckily you can change this in system prefs!

You guys want to go for bigger than 120 GB (Carl). OS plus Applications will quickly fill space - Software sizes are forever increasing.

If anyone is interested I can share some tips about running an SSD plus HD internally on the same Mac.

Do any of you guys use the Apple Magic Trackpad? I didn't think I would like it but it's excellent.

Why do I?

My apps when I do a restore from TM is 13gb. Take 8gb for the OS and my iPhoto library takes me to 78gb total. I will then use an Optibay to use my existing 500gb HDD as data storage (iTunes library etc)and then I have found a 1.5tb portable drive I can use as a TM backup.

I am only using 153gb of my HDD at the moment and that's with all my data on it less the parallels VM which I run from an external HDD.

A haz dun me reeeeeesurch boss  :P
