am lovin the GTI!
« on: March 03, 2011, 10:21:33 pm »
well into week 2 of driving the dream machine and it has lived up to my expectations, I love being able to blow out most cars on the motorway and thats without a remap  hopefully get a remap later in the year as you all seem to rave on about it! The handling compared to my vectra is sublime. The missus wants to drive it tho.. How do I tell her no?

I picked up mine yesterday, fair to say it has exceeded all expectations! even the fact it can handle 30mph in a highish gear with so much ease, and the turbo boost is so smooth! You actually feel like you are driving a car too!

Fair to say they have started a regular bus service from my car to the pavement though!

A tough position to be in

I've had mine for almost 3 months now and absolutely love it.

So true :happy2: Although my service took a while to get going and I learnt the hard way (was so painful...but got easier with each kerbing )

But that was before I found out about the dipping mirror...so much easier to parallel park now

My wife is a complete addict now, and she never  shouts at me when I do quickly accelerate, she just grins, and says 'that's what I would have done too!'

I take it that only comes with certain types of packs with the car?!

I have no idea what the dipping mirror is..Care to elaborate mate? As for letting her drive it, its not the driving so much that worries me its the parking. On the first day of having it one of my mates took it for a test drive and flippin kerbed one of the alloys! I had to fork out more money to fix it. So thats my worry that it will get kerbed, I wil maybe let her drive it in a car park  :signLOL:

The dipping mirror is a function activates you put it in reverse, the passenger side mirror automatically lowers so you can see the kerb better, makes parallel parking much easier so you don’t kerb the alloys :happy2:

If your mate damaged the alloy, why didn't THEY pay for the repair?!?!  :fighting:

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Talk to SteveP and Mortygttdi and get them to help with an RNS 510 and a Golf Mk 6 Reverse camera, then no more worries about kerbing the rims.  :happy2:

Over the top mod list ;o)

Thanks for info. In relation to him paying, anyone else I would but this mate has helped me out of some serious jams in the past plus he is unemployed the now so didn't want to ask him.
