S3/R32 Rear Brakes (finally done!)
« on: March 05, 2011, 09:46:35 am »
Wow these were a PITA to get done.......thought i post some pics, any questions just ask, they look pink in the photos cause the lighting is rubbish but they are a cherry red (RAL 3002) which is as good a match for OEM as you can hope to get. Ive put a picture of the fronts so you can compare the OEM (front) SEAT finish to the powder coated (in RAL 3002) rears.

I replaced the rear mounting bracket bolts but MAN were they a FOOKer to undo!!!! apart from that its a fairly straight forward conversion to do, but the powder coating company i used did a good job just i had to finish the edges up nicely around the paintwork to get them ''spot on'' that was time consuming and fiddly but worthwhile

Did you guys paint your hubs (Savage offer a brake caliper paint) or leave them oem finish?

I have had my hubs powder coated in Silver before fitting so they have some chance with the rust , they look rather good as well , I wish I had gone to the trouble off matching the hub paint to the wheel colour so it all seemed like one ,

Can I ask how much of a difference you actually notice with this modification.

Thanks

....Not exactly the same brake setup I know, but...   With AP's on the front, when I replaced the stock rears with the S3/R32's I experienced an immediate and very noticeable feeling of being better balanced and 'planted' more evenly under hard braking. I have the standard pads on the rears.
