Will a new HU still work with the CD changer in the armrest?
« on: March 10, 2011, 02:12:45 pm »
Hey all!

Im looking to buy an iPod dock and Loom to put in place of my CD changer in my armrest, eventually I will be getting a new HU (just have the factory one in ATM) but will the connection to the arm rest still work?

Thanks :happy2:

We would really need to know what sort of head unit you are going to buy to answer that one!  are we talking after market or VAG?

If we are talking VW units then they will still work but if you go third gen RNS510 RCD510 etc then you need to chnage a wire position in the little blue plug to get the right sound quality.

If you are talking after market I dont know but Im sure there are converter boxes out there for certain stereo brands that would allow compatibility.

5Dr Black GTI, DSG, Leather, Xenons. Retrofitted - Cruise, RNS 510, MFSW, Armrest, Skoda BT, 6cd changer, Monza II's, VW speaker upgrade kit, Lux pack, High-line, new CAN gateway, Polar FIS info display, R32 tinted rear lights, RVC

To Come...NQSBBK, highline CCM.
