This is more a question about this style of sub woofer as opposed to this Alpine in particular, but I thought it was a good example.

It's the SWE-1000 subwoofer & amp combined box. The ones I looked at were tiddly 8 inch models.


The reason I came across it is I'm looking for a small sized and budget sub. Having the amp built in is also a space & size bonus but not essential. I've noticed a lot of other active slim line or thin subwoofers are expensive for the renowned brands which put them out of budget. I've got some upgraded Hertz components in the front so I'm just looking to enhance the low & mid end. My setups got to be efficient on size and setup so it can be removed quickly as I put things like my Hardtail bike in the back with the seats down, during the better weather.

Are these 'all-in-one' subwoofers not worth looking at, or because my requirements are relatively low, will one do the job? I have heard in the past they're not terribly good. It doesn't have to quality in all departments, just an okay performance will do as I won't be demanding silly gain levels from it. I listen to a large range of genres of music so it's going to be used across the board in that respect  :happy2:

I have a blaupunkt THB210 (bluespot.co.uk were selling them off at a discounted rate last time i checked) active sub in mine, and that works perfectly for my needs.

Packs plenty of punch, but I can remove it with ease as and when I need to which is great as I often need a full boot!

Definitely worth the money if you need a quick easy solution and the sound is very reasonable too.

I'll check it out Alex. Looks like an allin1 jobby' too which is cool  :happy2:

In what way does your setup allow a quick release, is it all on one terminal in the boot that you can simply unplug?

Aye tis indeed ;)

Its as easy as a multiwire plug to disconnect, and the RCA leads - it couldnt be easier to be fair!

I have that exact Alpine model, it's good enough!

Have the remote in the glovebox and the sub bolted to the back of the backseat.

Good enough bass (trance/house music) and small enough to be able to use the bootspace.

Don't you get any passenger issues with it on the back seat? I'd thought of doing that myself but didn't want a bone crunching massage for the person sat in front of it  :laugh:

I dont usually have anyone in the back to be fair mate, so it hasn't mattered.  :smiley:

You can mount it on the side in the boot, I did originally, but found it neater where it is now.
