Aux point in standard MK5 stereo
« on: March 06, 2011, 08:42:50 pm »
Waiting to pick mine up next week.....stupidly I didnt check to see if there is an AUX point to plug my iPhone into.

Firstly is there an AUX point? If not what are my options for using the ipod function of the iPhone?

Hopefully I don't need to upgrade the stereo..?

Any pointers welcomed.

Simon

no aux on most of the standard head unit mate.some of the newer golfs have an aux near the hand break or under the armrest
you can buy a kit that plugs into where the cd changer would go on the older units

yes but it doesn't currently support iphone the vw one.

My car was a 2007 57 plate GTI and i had an RCD300 and it didn't have an aux in

My choices was

MKI 9200 at £139, it takes over your speakers in your car.covers hands free calls and all your music and voice active

http://www.roadradio.com/Parrot/MKi9200/?gclid=CPndjpbsuqcCFRRC4Qod8Cn__Q

or
iPOD Interface Adaptor Kit VW £47.99 , plugs into cd changer slot on back of factory head unit

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/iPOD-Interface-Adaptor-Kit-VW-Touran-Touareg-Golf-MK5-/250771978116?pt=UK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP&hash=item3a632cb784#ht_614wt_1141

or what alot of people do change to the newer factory headunit

RNS510

hope it helps

The new RNS510.

I love it, by far one of my best purchases ,moved 10gig worth of music to the built in hdd
Sold my tomtom europe on ebay as this has an awesome europe sat nav built in
My kids watch episodes of the simpsons on it while i drive up the motorway
its a superb unit with plenty more it can do (telephone, rear parking cam, digital tv,ps3 connection, add extra screens)

all depends on your budget

It does look a great bit of kit, did you buy from ebay?

I would need to get someone to fit it though, is this difficult and are any other parts/adapters etc required?
