Wheel refurb
« on: March 06, 2011, 11:15:09 pm »
Hi, Im new to this site and looking for some advice.

I have a 2008 GTI 3 door in black and the time has come to refurb my wheels. Im not sure to stay original or go grey or black.

Has anyone got any pictures of a MK5 GTI with original wheels but in grey/black.

Cheers!  :happy2:

James

They look great mate. I live in Newport S.Wales. I have a company near to me called The Wheel Specialist, they said that they couldn't get the exact same effect as the original but could get similar.

I'm thinking of going completely dark grey with them but not sure???

I've recently had my wheels refurbed by my local branch of The Wheel Specialist in Fareham. I went for anthracite and I'm very glad I did. The colour goes very well with the black GTI. They have loads of samples to put up against your car.

Give 'em a go.

Cheers mate, I was thinking of that grey. I would appreciate it if you could post a picture of your car with them fitted!

Very nice  :happy2:
Do you have an actual paint code for that colour and were they painted or Powder Coated.

Hi Mate

I don't have a code, it just says "Charcoal/Anthracite" on the paper work. Apparently they are powder coated, although they do other finishes, pink anybody?

My wheels were in an awful condition with white worm and some really bad curbing (not by me I hasten to add.  :innocent: )

I took the car in at 8.30 in the morning and picked it up at 5.00. They take the wheels off the car, remove the tyres, do any remedial work to badly curbed wheels, strip them back to bare metal, prepare and powder coat before balancing and re-fitting them to the car. All for £288!!  :notworthy:

Here's their web site:

I've got plenty of bad words for them. Dishonourable outfit IMHO.
