Does anyone else have a really annoying rattle coming from the boot area?

Any ideas? Doing my nut in.

is the rear seat latched properly, mine used to rattle like a bugger, I ended up putting some tape round the loops that latch and it cured it :happy2:

Yea I've got it too! Wondered if it was the parcel shelf somehow, because mine never used to squeek until the car was valeted and the parcel shelf was taken out and put back in... hmmmm

I have this irritating noise from the boot.. whenever I go over speedhumps or the like I can hear this thump....thump.  Pretty sure its something swinging about like a cable behind a bit of trim.  Behind the trim of the bootlid most likely but I can't be asred investigating.  Anyone looked in this area before?

Mine sounds like a little bird chirping away over any bumps. Definitely sounds like it is coming from the centre of the boot area, I wondered if it was the boot mechanism?

Had a quick look at this this morning and I'm sure thats what it is.  Cheers fella.  Whats the best way of sorting this? Tape them up into position?

Damn VW and their cost cutting.  In the Mk4 the cord was retracted into a little spool.  Ah well.

Matt,

Take a look at the Boot Lid Rubber Stops.  On the actual hatch they are adjustable.  You have to loosen an allen key (3mm) and then pull the stop on a ratchet stepped retainer (you will know when you see it)

One pointer would be - Is you hatch easy to close?  Mine is not too hard, but not too easy, it sits on the rubbers nicely, but over time they settle.
