CCTV?
« on: March 09, 2011, 01:33:20 am »
Hi folks

Unfortunately where I live at the moment has no driveway and I need to park on the street :scared:

After a few bad experiences I've had enough and want to get some CCTV installed to catch these scrotes in the act!
Can you install a CCTV system inside your car? I have an attic window that overlooks where I park my car so will probably stick one in there. Has anyone got any recommendations of decent equipment? Is this a good idea or am I wasting my money? I was seriously considering not getting another car as I get that paranoid about leaving mines on the street! Before you think I'm a crackpot  Ive had a car keyed twice (albeit once was at tesco), reveresed into and a drink driver who wrote off 4 cars on my street. Don't get me wrong it's not a rough area just  reasonably busy. I'm just sick of paying for getting things fixed that's not my fault :sad1:!

Thanks for reading  :happy2:

its a good idea, however you need to consider the lighting outside and the quality of the CCTV camera.  A major problemwith CCTV at night is insufficient light or poor light which gives bad colour rendering.  this makes identifying the culprits alot harder.  So if your going to buy, id buy a good bit of kit.  Id also stick up a sign on the front of the garden saying the property is protected by CCTV.

I put a swann wireless CCTV camera up at home to watch the car seeing as this theft etc has rapidly increased recently. Even has nightvision on it

Works a treat though...i can monitor it 24 hours a day via the web  :happy2:

i had some hassle a few years ago with a builder and his thugs, police involved etc etc

needed to go away on holiday and feared the worse on our return so invested  :innocent:

amazing what they pick up, theyre so discreet people dont notice them. best one was when the mother in law came to feed the cats when we went away once, she ended up going through all the cupboards and moving things around! really odd stuff, on our return we watched her do it and then let her know that there was a cam in the house - awkward moment for her  she behaves now

the only issue with one inside is if you watching some porn whilst throwing yourself off the walls and furniture when the missus has gone bed

Linkies?

I was gonna post a thread about this.

VC what are the cameras like at night and can you remotely access them?

I want to be able to see if there's anyone at the door/ round the back. Useful at night or if you don't want to answer the door in your underpants.
