Aftermarket stereo won't turn off....
« on: April 10, 2011, 11:51:48 am »
Hmm got an interesting one here, I'm trying to install my Pioneer double din into my Golf and I've plugged it in to test it but it won't switch off, the moment I plugged the wiring into it it powered up straight away without the key in.

Now I've tried the usual red/yellow wires which I believe is just to sort out the memory but doesn't have any effect to this.

Any ideas???

From browsing around I seem to find people asking the same but no answers on how to solve it lol I'm confused....

The two power supplies to the OEM quadlock are permanent.  The OEM units are switched over CAN.

Youll need a Quadlock to ISO adapter that can generate the CAN signals into reverse, speed signal and ignition on/off

Alternatively, you can tap an ignition live from the fusebox

VCDS Scanning/Coding, RNS and MDI retrofits, and specialist mechanics services with VAGtek available - Just PM me for details.

Ah cool I'll look for one of those, I did read about tapping a wire but didn't really fancy doing that if I can help it.

Had the same problem when i installed my Alpine Single din... HU had a constant supply which meant so did the amp...

Bought a CANBUS Adapter from Car Audio security for £40.. connects between the ISO connectors and problem sorted!
If you're having Audio problems i feel bad for ya son... I've got 99 problems but Bass aint one!
