Whiter Foglight Bulbs
« on: March 10, 2011, 07:55:50 pm »
Hi Guys,

I fitted a 30 byte CECM a while back and activated the cornering fog light function.

I wondered if any of you have changed your fog bulbs to a whiter version or LED as the standard bulbs look rubbish against my xenons and celis side lights.

Any recommendations will be gratefully received  :happy2:

Lee i couldn't find a white bulb to fit my fogs so i replaced them with my hella DRL'S instead(a nice white light that match my xenons)
to be honest i really don't think we need the fogs with having the xenons

Cheers guys  :happy2:

Im not really worried about the extra light output Scott, its just when cornering and the fogs come on they don't match the xenons as they are yellow in comparison.

Scott your LEDs are DRL? So they are on all the time regardless of having the cornering function activated?

I'm saying this as I thought you had a 30 byte CECM with cornering fogs activated??

Yes lee my LED'S are on all the time apart from when the headlights come on,it would have been good if i could have used them for cornering as well.
i do have a 30byte CECM which had the cornering fogs activated when i had the fogs.
im just waiting on my new set of DRL'S coming from germany as the ones i had were full of condensation :sad1:

I thought so.

Sorry to hear that mate, they were HELLA? Usually good quality.

I'v seen some SMD LED fog bulbs that will fit the bill but I'll probably need to do some resistor work with them.

God knows how long they'll last though coming on every 2mins with the cornering function  :rolleye:

@Weston   Cheers for the link  :happy2:

Here's a link to the ones I'm using

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ULTRA-POWER-BULBS-9005-HB3-5000K-WHITE-PAIR-BU9005P-NEW_W0QQitemZ250756646789QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=217480072283&rvr_id=217480072283&cguid=7f69f5fe1280a0aad4758e55fff7218e

Any pics of them fitted?

I can take some, won't be great as it'll be on my phone. Just realised I haven't posted the vinyl to you yet  :surprised:  It's been a busy week, I'll get it out to you as soon as I can  :happy2:

Not a problem mate!  Do you have Xenons, are they much whiter / brighter than the std fog bulbs?
Read there are a couple of fitments, not sure what type my Cupra has.  Wouldve taken the plunge on the one in your link lol

I don't have xenons, I use Nightbreakers which are whiter than standard bulbs. The ultra ones in the link are whiter again by quite a way. I think mine are HB3 fitment. Would be worth finding out for sure before ordering. I did use the same type of bulb as headlights before when I had standard halogens and they looked great. When I got my projector headlights the light output wasn't good enough for my liking. They're fine as fogs  :happy2:
