Back to the VW fold - MK5 GTI
« on: May 07, 2014, 04:09:35 pm »
Hi folks,

Recently joined this forum & loving it already! I used to be on the mkiv.net forum a long way back when I had my R32 then I veered off to the Ford RS scene then to the Subaru scene owing a variety of Impreza's including a P1 & now finally I'm back with a candy white gti! I bought her recently for a good price but in need a bit of work. Nothing major tho. This will be my daily driver & family car
So I will be slowly getting a few bits done & no doubt modifying...yet again!
Anyhow here are a few pics of my previous cars & obviously my new one. Hope you like

Cheers :happy2:

Cheers dude! I've not see many 5 doors in white around my way. First off I've just had the cambelt, tensioner & waterpump replaced including a major service, which I had carried out at my local VW stealers. They had a good offer on so I thought I'd treat the old girl at the main dealers!
I've just ordered a set of 4 Goodyear F1 Ass 2 tyres. Think I'll be then looking at possible remap options, alloy refurb & possible suspension & brake upgrades.
What mods have you done to yours mate?

Hey dude, congrats on the car. I just bought one which needs exactly what you describe above. Could you tell us more about the offer they had on for all of that?

Cheers,
Faz

Cheers matey  :happy2: I'm looking at suspension & brake upgrades next but I don't want to ruin the compliant ride it has now. Think I'll have to do some research first!

Hey up mate. Yeah they had cambelt, waterpump & tensioner service for £369! It was that cheap
I opted to have the full major service done there too including all filters, oil, spark plugs etc etc. I also got my coil pack done foc. Total bill was around £660 which is not bad at all from a main stealer.

The focus RS looks very nice, I nearly got myself one instead of the golf.

Cheers mate, it was very nice but it torque steered like mad with near 300 bhp.  It was mental!  It was also very special as it had a signed Colin Mcrae signed sun visor & the first owner was a former british superbike champion.  It had a nice bit of history.  I wish I had enough money to have kept all the cars!

Yes mate they're a fantastic car but once modded they can torque steer a bit too much imo. With the right mods they can be a true weapon. They're getting on a bit now & the interior is a bit marmite but I wouldn't say no to another one! I would love a mk2 FRS but they're still too pricey.
