Yeah VW have been rolling arches for a while, they could be tighter against the body work, but I'd imagine they need pulled slightly to give extra clearance.

the inside of the arch is like this !_ mine is now like this ! the bottom bit has been folded up, you can look at UD, my arches still take a beating though, paint has rubbed off both sides again,
