High pressure aircon switch and headlight washer pump
« on: March 14, 2011, 03:41:08 pm »
Hi all,

My local VAG specialist is dealing with all the little niggles on my new purchase (07 GTI) and they have advised that the high pressure aircon switch needs replacing and so does the headlight washer pump.

They have quoted £44 + VAT for the switch
TBA for the headlight washer pump
Labour £90 + VAT for 1 and a half hours as the front bumper needs to come off

Does this sound reasonable?

Cheers

Simon

I have just replaced my Air Con's High Pressure Switch Simon, it was very easy to do ( so long as you have the correct tools I suppose) The switch was £37 inc Delivery from a Seat dealer. There is a schraeder valve under the HP Switch, so hopefully you won't need a Regas too.

Re the washer pump I'm not too sure on that one.

No bumper removal required for the HP Air Con Switch Simon. Took me 10mins tops. I used a 17mm Crows foot Spanner, long extension and a ratchet. Had it Regassed today and so far so good (my sensor had gone faulty and all the Gas had escaped.

AMD replaced my pressure switch for 30quid (half hour rate) plus the price of the part.

Thanks Richwig, I guess the headlight pump shouldnt be too much labour wise either?

I have heard of AMD, would you recommend them?

IIRC you can get to the headlight  washer pump if you remove the O/S fog grill but then it only takes 10mins to remove the bumper, the aircon switch is a (as already said) very easy to change and no regas is needed, altho when i replaced mine it took the thread off the alloy pipe, but i managed to get a replacement pipe for £20 with a switch game on  :happy2:

Here you go, quick snap shot of the AC HP Switch. Open your bonnet and look down the left hand side and youshould see two alloy pipes that come from the AC Rad connected to the AC Pump, the switch has the Electrical Plug on that is roughly in the middle of the picture.
