^^^Looking at that timeline makes me realise how much of an oddity the MK5 looks. Despite the fact that I hate the narrow red stripes on the grilles, the MK6 seems to be a more natural progression of the GTI look. Maybe the MK5 was ahead of its time?  :grin:

Agreed that was an awful engine combo to be in any car with a 'GTI' badge!! But that was the only bad engine as the rest of the lineup was superb. Can't say that about the boat MK3!  :laugh:
