@Carl, :signLOL:

i feel the UN has also missed the boat and this will end up being a messy affair

also have the feeling japan goof use some millitary support to aid the humanitarian issues there at the moment

There's two US carrier groups sitting off the coast of Japan now; and frankly by the time it'd take the 5th Fleet to redeploy to the Far East there'd be no one left to save.

Interesting article on the BBC here about this and the US involvement of the UN.

If we invaded Iraq on the pretext of getting rid of a dictator we may as well be consistent...

Anyone know if our jets will fly out of Cyprus or Malta? The Frenchies have their own aircraft carriers, of course...

I have actually served as an officer in the danish reserve, and as sutch i was a Judge in the 1990 NECIC competition, it was quite interesting to see the difference in the way the countries educated their forces. Several of the NATO countries doesn't learn the privates to read maps, as we danes learn all levels of troops to be able to work as independent troops.
But we are still in the shadow of 1940.  :sad1:
