Spanner...

Hi,

I read on one of the VW forums awhile ago (cant remember where, ive tried searching) that someone posted they bought what I think was some kind of spanner extender so that your less likely to slip and damage the alloy. Anyone got one or know what im on about...

I have one of these they are plastic. Basically its a 3 to 4 inch peg with a thread on the end you screw it in first then locate the wheel over it.  They are hard to find on the system for VW service tec's I think the chap found mine on the phaeton page.
They are very handy. i would recommend them.

No and no, is the answer to your question,sorry, your probably better going to an Audi dealer and just describe it as a wheel locator hold me onny kinda thingy.

one of the etka boys may be able to get you the part number.

Go to your VW dealer and ask for part no 7L0 012 233. It should be the wheel assist for the Touareg and shouldn't cost much over £4 iirc.

I use one of those and always insist the mechanics use it if removing any of my wheels. They are very good. Mine's aluminium (or metal).

Yes, I think it's an essential piece of kit to keep with in the boot with your spare wheel.

great, looks like another trip to the dealers for me. I should have got one of these moons ago! Mind you, i fitted my jack pads today.   sorry to hijack...but when i put the front jack pads in today, i inserted them to a oval shaped hole that was located behind a plastic panel with two t20 screws? Is that right?

Just out of interest guys, I've been reading a thread over at VWVortex about these lifting pads. Apparently they are designed for lifting the car completeley off the ground by using all 4 at the same time. A couple of guys over there have used a standard trolley jack to lift one wheel only using these jack points and have either crushed the plastic jack point or damaged the metal part it sits into. Apparently there's too much weight in the Golf for just one of these to take the weight, it needs to be spread out over all 4 at the same time.
