Weird kerbed rim thing
« on: March 21, 2011, 01:38:50 pm »
So after a craptacular weekend, I've had a craptacular morning. Had to go to some out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere place accessible only by narrow country roads (barely big enough for one vehicle). Made a wrong turn and had to do a three-point turn. Didn't realise I'd kerbed my offside rear rim until I came back.

Anyway, unlike the normal kerb rash which is just down to the metal, I managed to scrape a chunk off. But the way it looks at the moment, what I've chipped is an outer 'plastic' coating. You can see what looks like the original rim underneath. This is on a refurbed rim.

Is this right or has something gone awry during the refurb process?

Will show pics later when I'm not using gprs.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Sounds like you have taken off some of the powdercoating!

Yeah I had a closer look to take some pics and that's exactly what I thought.
