The full 300 - 320 bhp Superchips map is I take it the one that is being referred to here. This map provides much reduced boost pressure in 1st and 2nd gear, hence performance at Santa Pod, however after 3rd performance is blistering. It's my feeling that this is more useful out on the road for most situations, however as those who have read my other threads, it was a bit annoying to lose that extra grunt in 2nd for getting off quickly. I have also had the 270bhp map, have had 6 maps from superchips in total over the last 2 months, and the performance to 5th gear was absolutely blisering - wheelspin all the way from. It was ideal for "scareing" people !! However this map offered much less performance in 5th & 6th. I mean, I do a lot of dual carriageway driving so that mound of torque in 6th at 3500 rpm aka 75mph is quite useful (also good for embarassing people in other performance cars). I decided to stick with the full power map for this reason, but will be attending at Superchips HQ soon so that they can iron out a few problems.
I suppose I want to have my cake and eat it, I mean loads of torque low down more torque at the top less lag etc etc ! Just not achievable and all vehicle modifications are a trade off of various factors for high performance in one given area.
As for traction, unless it is wet, I seldom get any problems with traction with the full power map, ESP cuts in less whilst remapped than standard. However I have had some issues for example off throttle wheelspin 5th gear 70mph ! Which was a little unexpected !
The one thing I would watch is the clutch from time to time mine slips heavily between 3000 - 3500 rpm's in 5th & 6th, I really don't think "my" clutch doesn't like 320 ft/lb of torque delivered quickly - but there are others on here reaally pushing the envelope on standard ED30 clutches with power close to or just exceeding 360 bhp.
Just need to get mine sorted once and for all,
Regards,
Gareth
