Had one going at me mams for a couple of years and no issues and none with mine after a year or so, very simple set up and does all you need it too apple or pc  :happy2:

when you say its not fast what do you mean? Its going to be wireless G at least which mean any broadband connection you have wont be throttled by the wifi. Only if your streaming or need gigabit eithernet would you need to upgrade.

Whats the reason you think its slow

The express is also good had one of those years ago but they have now been upgraded to 'n' rated, again a simple setup and the airplay feature where you can plug a speaker cable from your hifi to your express router and play your itunes music wirelessly is fantastic  :happy2:

APE is good but its not got an inbuilt ADSL modem has it? (ive already got AP express and Time Capsule so i know that they are great products, but the APE doesnt quite tick all the boxes)

I do quite a lot of transferring of files between my Macbook Pro and my Mac Mini, and It just seems a bit slow. The router with have is G... so would moving to an N have any noticeable difference?

Provided that all your network pcs have N wifi cards then you should be able to transfer files at a higher speed.
Without traction power is nothing!

A newer Netgear dual simultaneous N gigabit would be a good choice. I've been using Netgear for years, and still do slot of beta testing of the new unreleased routers for them....has it's perks  :signLOL:

Agreed, the Air Port Express is the best router I have ever had. I have three in my house (Sagem, Netgear & Apple) and the Apple is by far the most reliable and strongest of the lot.

I got mine second hand of eBay like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Apple-AirPort-Express-802-11n-Wi-Fi-/160561264616?pt=UK_Computing_Apple_Mac_Accessories&hash=item25623277e8 and i will probably get the extreme version the 'Time Capsule' next for its wireless 'timemachine' capabilities.

Do you need a router or a modem+router?
