iPad 2-good offers?
« on: March 23, 2011, 03:23:41 pm »
Does anybody who is getting a new iPad know where the best deals are? Is there anywhere that does a fixed term data plan where the iPad price is reduced like with a mobile contract? Cheers.

I don't think any networks have announced their pricing yet.

Its supposed to be out Friday, yes. I had a play with one last week in Vegas , nice bit of kit but I will be sticking with my iPad1 until prices and availability is no longer an issue. Base model iPad2 - 16GB WiFi in the US was $499, if that tells you anything!

Now that the first gen ones are cheaper now, would you suggest getting one of those? How different are they?

I think you will have to be quick to get the 1st Gens as they seem to be selling out fast. The 2 Gen is lighter, thinner and has a funky magnetic cover, it also has face time and is supposedly quicker...not that I could tell with the quick play I had. Its a nice piece of kit but I wont be changing mine anytime soon.

Yes, they are out this friday.

But none of teh networks have announced their subsidised contract prices.
Apple have announced the standard prices.

those data plans where you get the ipad1 for £99 if you sign up to a 24 month contract are a bit of a joke at £27.99 a month.. it means you end up paying almost £800 for an ipad and 24 gig of data  :stupid:  by the time the contract ends the ipad 4/5 will most likely be out

GTI Edition 30 - Reflex Silver now gone but not forgotten - Cooper S JCW now.

Depending on your provider you could use tethering which has better support with the latest IOS.  I know 02 and Voda have tethering available for a monthly charge, I seem to remember someone saying 3 don't charge on their all you can eat plans.

My partner is flying to LA this weekend and I am hoping she can pick me one up in the airport stateside. They are £300 for the basic model out there and £400 for the basic model here, shows you what a rip off Britain is.

Does anyone know if they are on sale at LAX or San Francisco airport yet? (Long shot I know).

Be careful in assuming the price you see on the Apple US Store is the price you pay, they don't include local tax whereas our price includes VAT.  Don't get me wrong it will be cheaper, mine came from the US but you do need to factor in the tax and of course it 'should' be declared.

Tried to go on the apple store this morning but it was incredibly slow, then lost connection! Presume it's a little busy! Anyone got their hands on one yet?

They dont officially go on sale until 5pm in stores, if you order online you will have to wait between 2-3 weeks for it  :fighting2:

The only place near me to get mine is PC World, cant get there tonight either  :sad1:
