Airbag warning light coming on?
« on: March 23, 2011, 04:10:19 pm »
Hi Folks. Just drove a DSG equipped MK5 and loved it! So that's the route I'll probably be taking.

One thing that was of concern was the Airbag warning light came on in the dash display? The car is for sale at a VAG group dealer (non VW) and they said they would make sure that the problem is addressed. Looking through the full VW history, this problem has arisen before with this car and was dealt with at a VW main dealer. Seems the problem has either returned or was not solved?

Is this a common failing with MK5's and what's the usual cause and cost to repair?

It very much depends on what the fault is to be honest, without knowing that then anything more is pure speculation.

I'm afraid as it was only a sales guy present on the test drive, he could not expand on the issue at all I'm afraid.

Are there many associated problems with airbag warning lights on the MK5? Sensors, issues with the wheel itself perhaps etc?

If anyone were to speculate...?  :happy2:

Its probably the under seat wiring. 95% of airbag light faults that i have seen have been this!
