Do you need a router or a modem+router?

Affirmative!

I bought this one last week:

Easy setup and does what I need it to.

Useless contribution, but I need to bump up my count to get into my inbox, but I agree with the Apple option.

The Netgear DG834 I've had for over 5 years has started to crash now and again.

Took the easy option to not buy a new Wireless router but change ISP and move to BT and get their home hub 3 instead  For free

DG834s were very solid, provided you kept the firmware bang up to date. Alot are still used in Corporate setups as they just keep going and going

My netgear has been up 24/7 for over three years so I'm biased towards them.
Without traction power is nothing!

Draytek kit really is good, bit more money but you can do loads with them if needed.  probably a little over the top for what you need by the sounds of it.

latest netgear will do the job.

my old netgear went pop yesterday after 7 years of service, timing couldn't have been better  :fighting:

picked up a Netgear 33300v2 yesterday, was going so well until i tried to connect a vista machine, all now sorted and a great bit of kit
