Fuel Prices - Post Budget

After the announcement yesterday of 1p being cut from fuel duty, i filled up this morning at the local shell - the price was the same as it was last week  -133.9. Im sure the the price changes are implemented pretty much straight away once the budget is announced.. Anybody else see a price cut at their local petrol stations?

Anyhow, i have a feeling the 1p cut wont do jack as no doubt the price will go up due to the cost of crude...

Well normally a 1p rise would equal a 5p rise at the pumps immediately.

You can bet your ass that a 1p reduction will not mean a 5p reduction at the pumps and it will be implemented as and when if at all.  :fighting:

1p reduction in fuel duty
Increase in VAT increase cost per litre by 3p

Petrol companies have just been hammered 2billion..... You do the math!

My boyfriend takes trips out of town just to go to Shell to get vpower. The other week it was £1.33. Then last week was £1.35. But last night was £1.34.

The two petrol stations near me are BP (£1.42 high octane) and Texaco (£1.44 HO)
For the last 4-6 weeks every time I've gone to refuel the cost has gone up 1-2p

I was watching the news this morning as stations were shown taking 1p a litre off the price and thought the exact same as others, wiat a second what about the VAT reduction on that 1p a litre as well, I want the 20th of a pence taken into account!  I still find it infuriating that they are allowed to charge VAT on a tax!  That would make a huge difference VAT only on the fuel cost element with seperate duty as im not sure what added value fuel duty really adds!  :fighting:

Wouldn't it also depend on when the petrol station bought their batch of fuel?

I'm not sure where the duty is added but as mentioned further up they quite happily add on the extra duty instantly they are just reluctant to take it off as quickly.

Well it's going to cost me 56p less per fill up now.

On my current journeys this is going to equate to............Wait for it..........

They were saying on the news that yesterday some garages had put the price up knowing it was having some taking off with the budget !!!.No change there then.
