Surely there should be a recall for the dv?

From what I've seen on here most people who have checked their dv's have had a tear in them. Vw revising the part surely is an admission of a fault with the earlier design?

So is the tear a faulty valve or is it caused by misuse? Surely if it's a faulty part then it should be changed FOC?

If they did replace them it's unlikely to be a recall as they are generally reserved for serious and safety issues.

It would be a campaign similar to the current coil pack debacle.

I believe the failure is down to wear and tear and so wouldnt be covered, and failure doesnt cause a H&S issue so VW wouldnt be under pressure to rectify the mistake as its not un-safe.

I truth I think they probably should have replaced them as there clearly was an issue, equally I don't think you could say that revising the part is an admission of fault as it could be argued it was 'continuous development' of the product.

Lots of parts are revised through a cars production life, it doesn't naturally mean they are all faulty though.

Thats very true. Often things are revised for better efficiency over most things.
