Headlight washers don't work?
« on: July 02, 2011, 10:31:50 am »
So I've got OEM Xenon headlamps on my car with LUX and WINTER pack but my washers don't seem to work?
Do they only work when the lights are switched on and every 1st and 5th wash? I read this on the forum?

Anyone else had this issue.......

Pretty sure this is normal. No need to worry
No Golf anymore.
Enjoyed the last five years of ownership of Mk5 & 6 GTIs.
Plus an excellent forum for knowledge and new ways to deplete the bank account.
Thank You Everyone.

I've just went out, turned engine and lights on then pulled the stalk back for the windscreen washers but the headlight washers never came on. Must have tried at least 8 times but nothing?

What could be the issue? Anyone else had this problem?

Would fuse location be in the handbook? How do I check if it's a relay?

Does the washer bottle have any screen wash?
Without traction power is nothing!

Is this a second hand car as the previous owner may have added xenon lights afterwards and didn't worry getting the parts required for the washers to work.

Yes it's 2nd hand, I asked him if they were specced from new and he assured me they were. Unsure how t tell, short of removing the whole bumper and checking for the washer units?

Do all cars with Xenons and winter pack have Xenons fitted?

You can pull, gently, on the plastic bumper coloured piece where the washer comes out and that will tell you if you have washers fitted.

It will just spring back in once you have seen.

Not sure but of the two plastic pieces I think its the outside one.

I know this because my plastic piece dropped off as the sides had bent outwards and to refit I just pulled it.
