AS a rule of thumb you normally that your cluster part number which for a mid line will finsih 96x with your car I think x will be 1 or 2 you then find clocks that end 97x which is the highline version.  It is obviously a bit different when moving from a TDI to GTI clocks so Im not sure if this logic will follow.

But the pic of the clocks youve shown are already fitted in a TDI and an early one like yours I believe so it should be fine, but you will need somone with vag commander to do the coding switch.  Also worth checking where the current owner had the clocks coded and what age they are as the immobiliser were changed in 2006 to a harder encryption type.

5Dr Black GTI, DSG, Leather, Xenons. Retrofitted - Cruise, RNS 510, MFSW, Armrest, Skoda BT, 6cd changer, Monza II's, VW speaker upgrade kit, Lux pack, High-line, new CAN gateway, Polar FIS info display, R32 tinted rear lights, RVC

To Come...NQSBBK, highline CCM.

OK, soooo

"immobiliser were changed in 2006 to a harder encryption type" does this mean it makes the VAG coding harder or impossible to do?

and where/how can I check the part number/code on my clocks?

it means you need proper VAG registered tools to get the access code from a server in Germany or so im lead to believe, which means Shark performance hazydays or a VAG dealer with VAS to code them.

to find your part number you need a vcds scan or you could take your clocks out and see if the label with the part number is intact on the rear.  I would guess the R32 clocks are probably post 2006 as they have been retro fitted but the seller should be able to tell you all those details.

Johnny, Rich is spot on  :happy2:

Those clocks have already been retrofitted into an early TDI so should be the early immo type. Just check with Ollie to be sure. As long as the part number ends in 970,971 or 972 then your fine. Although I don't think R32 clusters where older than 972.

All you will need is someone with VAG K+CAN Commander to do the swap. Darren (Morty),EddieNL and I have all got it , just depends on where you are.

The swap is easy and takes 5 mins  :happy2:
