How easy is it to remove the engine cover?

Hi all, how easy is it to remove the engine cover? im looking at buying a panel filter at ultimate dubs on sunday if there are any around. so does anyone care to share how to take it off ? thanks  :driver:

Pull it up and towards you firmly.

See the instructions here to get an idea where best to grip it. :happy2:

Helps if you're tall........ Im 6' and it was still not easy to work in the engine bay

if you get one at UD then im sure one of us could fit it for you  :happy2:

if not then it just pulls off, hard. then you need a philips for the screws on the back (once the cover is off)

cheers :) ill come over and say hi to the ones on the stand :) if they dont have ITG filters what would be the second best choice?

Best thing, scrap the crappy oem intake and get a real intake like an evoms, ..... :laugh:

ITGs and carbonios  are for girls......... :fighting: :P

My advice would be to do it when the engine is warm. So the rubber holders are nice and flexible and don't break.

You have 2 choices either a spring clamp to take the pipe of the front or a torx to undo and remove the air intake.

When you put it back on plenty of silicone spray in the rubber mounts.

It is pretty straightforward really. :smiley:

cheers this might sound really dumb but where is the filter on the mk5?  :ashamed: i know everything about mk2's but not mk5's :(

I understand its in the engine cover, could be wrong lol, if you read the evoms guide I posted it will take you step by step through removal of the engine cover, its straight forward and answers your question, even has pics for dumbos. :laugh:

std filter is in the cover, at the back, the bottom splits off (with screws) to reviel the filter

 put a bit of lube on the rubber gromits in case you ever wont to take it off again
